Slow Cooker Recipes for NFL Divisional Round Weekend!

Photo: Brett Coomer, Houston Chronicle

Alert! This is not a drill – there are just FIVE football games, college or pro, left on the plate for the 2016-17 season. Doesn’t it feel like yesterday was the 1st Sunday after Labor Day in which 32 NFL teams have aspirations of making a deep run a the Super Bowl? Well, we are here, and this weekend brings us three tremendous divisional round games, and one game that all but likely won’t be close (played down the street in Foxborough). As you sit back on your couch with friends and enjoy the full slate of Saturday and Sunday’s games, we suggest you whip up one of the following easy-to-make and delicious slow cooker recipes! [

Slow-Cooker BBQ Dip
Only 15 minutes of prep is all you need to create this amazing combination of two smoky and creamy cheese and chicken dips. All it takes is a red onion, cream cheese, shredded chicken, green onion, a variety of spices and a tin foil divider to separate your two dips! It’s perfect to put on the coffee table, finish the job with a bag of Tostitos scoops and you are all set!

Slow-Cooker Chili Mac ‘n Cheese Dip
Yes, this looks as tasty as it sounds. A bit more complex and might take a bit more time than the BBQ dip, but this is sure to be a smashing success. To start, combine canned chili, onion, cheese, cream cheese, hot sauce, and 1/3 cup of lager beer into the slow cooker. Cook for an hour on high. In another pot, bring water to a boil, and cook the macaroni until al dente. Then mix macaroni into the slow cooker and stir thoroughly. Serve with sour cream and cilantro.

Slow-Cooker Buffalo Ranch Wings
If you were putting together a power rankings of football foods, buffalo wings would be a mortal lock to be in the top 3. This particular recipe is easy as can be. Place the wings in a large slow cooker. In a separate large bowl, mix together buffalo sauce, ranch seasoning and season with salt and pepper. Pour mixture over chicken wings and stir to coat. Cover and cook on high 2 ½ to 3 hours. Heat the broiler, and broil the wings for 5 minutes until crispy, garnish with chives and ranch dressing.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Enchilada Dip
This is a perfect dish for enchilada and queso lovers. In the slow cooker, combine shredded chicken, enchilada sauce, pepper jack, cream cheese, jalapeno, and taco seasoning. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Stir until creamy, then cook, covered, on low, 30 minutes to 1 hour. Serve with your favorite brand of chips!

Welcome to MetroMark!

A Quick Tour of Life for the First Residents of MetroMark in Jamaica Plain

On August 1st we welcomed our first group of residents to their brand-new MetroMark apartment homes! All who have moved in to one of our tasteful studio, one, two or three bedroom apartment homes are getting unmatched attention and assistance from our leasing and maintenance staff ensuring that life at MetroMark is perfect. The first of two buildings located along the 3611-3615 blocks of Washington Street features a collection of high-end amenities and apartments that are freshly-minted.  Here are some of the highlights!

Modern-Age Kitchens with A Flashy Look

A walk through the front door leads to a breathtaking kitchen. 36” soft-closing cabinets carved out of  autumn wood offer the primary visual punctuated by a stainless steel appliance package and mosaic tile backsplash. A sprawling quartz island countertop provides extra space for cutting up fruits and veggies or marinating favorite meats!

A Decadent Living Area

Energy efficient windows welcome light to warm the space in chilly winter months and stop the heat during the summer.  Living areas invite a variety of couch/loveseat/coffee table/flatscreen television combinations. Nearby a private washer and dryer makes laundry quick and easy after a nice bike ride or run along the Southwest Corridor path. Custom selected accent walls are a popular added touch.

Closet Space for Your Entire Wardrobe

When designing MetroMark we considered the shear amount of clothing that makes up a wardrobe in today’s world. That’s why we provide closet space galore! Plush soothing carpeting in each bedroom puts comfort under foot each morning!

Catch Some Rays on Our Patio Area

Outlined by reclaimed wood planters, our outdoor patio area is tree-lined and secluded. Fully furnished with lounge recliners, Adirondack-style chairs, high-top tables, outdoor lighting and a stainless steel grill,  the space is perfect for outdoor relaxation.

Pet Wash Station for BOTH Dogs and Cats

Little four-legged guys love to play with other furry friends at the dusty local dog park.  No need to track muddy paws through the hallway and into a freshly vacuumed home…that’s why we built a pet-washing station!

Things Are Coming Along at MetroMark!

It feels like only a few weeks ago we were dealing with rotten 40-degree temperatures and a constant cycle of rain and gloominess in the city of Boston. As you probably have noticed by now, that rough patch is long in the past, and thoughts have been redirected to looking forward to an AMAZING summer in our awesome city.
MetroMark, Jamaica Plain's newest Apartment Community couldn't be more excited to make its debut this summer as well. Stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, dark appointed cabinetry, marble tile bathrooms, central AC and more will be seen at each one of the 283 newly constructed apartments right next to the Forest Hills MBTA Station.

We are happy to say that our first residents will be moving in on August 1st! The first building of our community will be home to all new move-in's, and after that January 1st is when the rest of our future residents will get to call MetroMark home.

Right now our fabulous leasing staff of Kelli and Razi are offering hard hat tours of our model apartment to show you what the MetroMark lifestyle will be all about. Four Quick Summer Weekend Trips from Boston

Ipswich and Essex

Boston’s North Shore is full of hidden gems that are easily accessible whether you are taking a car or even public transportation. The Midwest is home to America’s tastiest barbeque, New Orleans is known for its Southern gumbo and shrimp, Buffalo has its famous wings, and the North Shore is home to the world’s best fried clams. Popular clam shacks The ClamBox, Woodman’s, JT Farnhams, Ipswich Clambake and many more will see hundreds of thousands of tourists flock to their establishments this year to taste the world-class seafood. The Ipswich-Essex Explorer is a bus route that leaves from the Ipswich MBTA Station and makes trips to Crane Beach, as well as the clam destinations in Essex. Expedia has a number of different cost-efficient lodging options if you wish to make it an overnight trip!

Newport, RI

Home to the world famous “Newport Mansions”, the coastal Rhode Island city is the perfect summer destination for a number of different ages. Breathtaking ocean views and sprawling cliffs that sit next to the famed Newport Mansions are perfect for the whole family to go along with numerous beaches, parks, and recreation areas. Newport and surrounding towns are lush with high-end championship golf courses that are open to the public and can challenge players of all abilities. For the young bar-hopping crowd, Newport is your place to be! Downtown Newport has a wide-selection of bars and pubs that have outdoor seating and live music playing. TripAdvisor published their TopThings to Do in Newport, check it out for more ideas.

Freeport and the Maine Coast

Calling all shoppers! Calling all shoppers! Freeport, Maine, known as the home of world famous clothing line L.L. Bean, has a lot to offer for its vacationers. Of course the variety of sweaters, tops, pants, socks, shoes and more from L.L is a premier attraction and with its discount outlet prices, why not splurge! However, there is more to Freeport and its surrounding towns than just shopping. Only about a 3-hour drive up I-95 North from Boston sits endless destinations for hiking, boating, seaside dining, lodging, island hopping, and more. If you want to make a quick day trip from Freeport, there are hundreds of small journeys to many of Maine’s coastal island and peninsulas nearby in towns such as Boothbay, Bar Harbor, Brunswick and more!

New York City

Getting to the majestic sights, sounds and lifestyle of New York City has never been easier. Whether you choose to travel by bus, plane, train or automobile, NYC is one of the easier and most rewarding weekend getaways you can find. If you act early enough, you can get bus tickets for as low as $1! You can usually find a cheap bus round trip to Penn Station for under $50. Amtrak Regional and Acela routes can be more pricey but provide you with effortless comfort to enjoy your trip in style while taking in scenic coastline of Connecticut. If you’re looking for a mix of cost-effective and stress-free, I recommend checking out the MetroNorth, NYC’s commuter line, from stations such as Stamford or New Rochelle. Parking is fairly easy, and both of these stations are located right off of I-95. Once you reach NYC, your choices are endless. Summer is great for dining along the Hudson at the Frying Pan or a baseball game at either Yankee Stadium or Citi Field.
